Preaching the Word of Daama from a Hole in the Heart.
Gender: Male
Species: Halgian
Appearance: Dedimus is garbed in a weighty off-white toga garb tied around the waist with a simple nylon rope underneath a weighty hooded cloak. Abilities:
Tongue of Fire and Brimstone: Dedimus is an excellent, eloquent speaker, and able to inspire faith or shame at his whimsy for the sake of Lady Daama. While he is beholden to Daama’s commands, it is said that if Daama willed it, he could restore life to an undead or strike a dragon dead with a sharp, harsly intentioned word.
Prayer Spells: Dedimus’s prayers are extremely potent, as they are how he channels his reiatsu. Dedimus’s spells often involve healing and protection magic, though he can also call the light to smite undead and other light-sensitive creatures. Though his spell selection has limited application, the spells he does have are of an Archmage-level in potency.
Weaknesses:
Addiction: Dedimus gets cravings if he goes a full set of two Evylonian days without smoking. He gets the shakes if he goes four days, and becomes violently ill after a week. This may be modified slightly by circumstances such as rest, stress, etc.
Weak Lungs: As a result of his smoking habit, Dedimus gets winded easily, and cannot run long distances or fight long battles.
Little-to-no Melee: Dedimus carries a dagger just in case he needs to shiv a mugger or the like, but generally prefers to not get into direct combat.
Profile:
The noble son of a high ranking member of the Halgian faith, Dedimus’s nose has been embedded in scripture for most of his waking life, and his lips rarely have time to speak things other than the words of Daama. So long as he’s recently had access to his pipe and some time alone, Dedimus is a charming and well-spoken loyal servant to Daama.
However, those who really get to know him know that he is a melancholy loner who only puts on the face for the sake of those he is charged with shepherding with his words. Morose, and sometimes a little sarcastic, he truly cares about serving his fellow Halgians, but prays to Daama to lift the burden of his own hypocrisy and his constant, nagging questioning of his own faith. Having yet to experience a true miracle from Daama, and being constantly asked questions that test his patience and faith from his fellow believers, his own ability to believe in Daama wears thin, and he finds himself questioning if Daama will have mercy upon the soul of a hypocritical preacher.
Yet in spite of his self-doubt, Dedimus’s actions ironically speak louder than his words. While he can be sarcastic and tends to gripe, he is the sort to provide healing and prayers over the dead and dying even to those who cannot provide the necessary tithing. ...and then proceed to gripe about having to do it.
