Name: Liangyu
Gender: Female
Species: Fire Elemental/Orc
Name: Liangyu
Gender: Female
Species: Fire Elemental/Orc
APPEARANCE
A fiery red-headed green-skinned 6’4” amazon of an orc woman, Liangyu is often lightly-geared, which fits as her fighting style relies on her hitting hard and avoiding being hit. Oftentimes, she wears a leather chestplate, ending just shy of her midriff, as well leather breeches and thick spiked knuckle gloves. Oftentimes, she wears a loose-fitting leather tunic over this gear to avoid drawing unnecessary attention to herself.
Cuts, scabs, and scars adorn her body, and she’s rarely seen without some sort of injury from her vigilant, persistent training in pursuit of her truth.

ABILITIES
- Fire Reiatsu: As half-fire elemental, Liangyu can tap into her fire reiatsu at any time to enhance her attacks with fame. However, her fire becomes even more fearsome when she allows her anger to thrash about freely - although she sacrifices a lot of control when she engages in this. She can also propel herself using her fire elemental power, emitting large blasts of flame in order to jet herself through the air. While sustained flight is impossible, this gives her some melee options against flying or ranged opponents
- Earth Reiatsu: While she does not excel with Earth reiatsu, training with Granny Ning Su has allowed her some limited earth reiatsu abilities - these mostly manifest when she hits the ground, manifesting as local tremors and quakes.
- Martial Artist: Liangyu trained under Ning Su, and is a skilled hand-to-hand combatant. Oddly enough, while she can hold her ground using any number of martial weapons, she is most at home simply using her body as a weapon. Already gifted with orcish strength, her technique further enhances the lethality of her strikes. A punch from her can feel like a blow from a giant’s club. This also works defensively - Liangyu’s feats are impressive, as she is able to catch arrows and blades from mid-air and mid-swing, as well as flip around the battlefield with frightening ease in spite of her size. There are few things as frightening as Liangyu flipping through the air with a somersaulting mountain-shattering kick aimed at the top of your skull. Her martial arts prowess can even perform with limited effectiveness against reiatsu, shattering lesser reiatsu based defenses (such as barriers). On top of this, her martial arts also gives her keen awareness on the battlefield - while this is nothing supernatural, it does make it more difficult to sneak up on her for surprise attacks.
- Suppressed Orc Rage: While Liangyu is knowledgeable of many ways of managing her anger, she is an orc - given an orc’s natural penchant for anger and rage, Liangyu often requires an outlet for her anger, and if she is not careful, the anger can slip in ways that are counter-productive. It should be noted that her control of her rage is strongly connected to her ability to control her flame abilities, and that if her rage is totally suppressed, so is her flame. This counts as both a strength and a weakness.
- Orcish Strength: ORC SMASH.
WEAKNESSES
- Wary: Liangyu does not trust strangers too easily. Having been isolated from society and only knowing Feng Feng and Ning Su - the former of which is more like taking care of a hyperactive toddler and the latter of which is like being the daughter of a sentient fortune cookie, Liangyu tends to regard strangers with a dirty look and distance. While this keeps her out of trouble, this also makes it hard for her to open up or build relationships. This also makes her awkward at best in social situations.
- Driven to a Fault: Liangyu sometimes forgets her body needs things. Like food and rest and medical attention. While she can stave off such things for longer than some through sheer willpower, this ultimately hurts her as she starves her body of much needed sustenance.
BACKGROUND
In Vystriana, somewhere between the Gods’ Cavern and the Island of Rojimbo, close to the port where the ferry runs, is a small abandoned inn on a hill. It is said that there lives a little old lady, who runs a small home for those who have lost their way or been abandoned by the world. These individuals often become disciples and assistants of the old lady, Ning Su.
One of these young disciples is a fiery-haired orc named Liangyu. Having been shunned as a non-shaman orc who could use magic, and unwanted by elementals, Ning Su took Liangyu in when she was only 6 and gave her the new moniker. Having been taught how to manage her anger to a surprising extent as well as how to fight without the usage of weapons, Liangyu often helps with things that require brute strength around the abandoned shrine, including knocking down walls and lugging lumber around.
Unlike others, Liangyu’s anger is not the reckless wildfire that typifies most orcs. She struggles to maintain total control over her anger. On the rare occasions her anger peaks, all who remain nearby are endangered due to how wild her flames can truly get.
Recently, the desire to see the outside world has captivated Liangyu, and she often goes on small journeys to see what she can see - often getting into honorable spars with other wanderers to test her skills. To her, this is the best form of communication and bonding, and in spite of her temper, savagery, and competitive nature, she is a good sport. However, underhanded tactics and actual hostility can leave her struggling to not kill an opponent.
All of this obfuscates a core desire: to connect with others. Even more fundamental than her rage is her loneliness and tendency to self-destructively isolate herself. Her interactions are often a brawl in of themselves - between a desire to connect and a fear of rejection.
