Chryso
The Puppeteer Puppet
"Mr. Bear thinks you're scary. You need to go away now, or he'll get very angry."
BASICS
Name: Chryso
Species: Shar/Vystrian Elf
Gender: Male
APPEARANCE
Unlike most of elven persuasion, Chryso lacks the famed elven locks – instead, due to the processes which he was subjected to under Orochi, he has lost all hair upon his head. Only a young child, he is of a light frame and build. He often wears plain clothing, befitting that of a peasant, as well as thick gloves so that he does not unnecessarily unleash his powers. He often is seen carrying a well-crafted owlbear doll in his arms.
ABILITIES
WEAKNESSES
BACKGROUND
Sometimes monsters are not simply born - they are good people chased into the arms of Death.
Having been left at the doorstep of an orphanage, Chryso’s power was seen as a threat to the orphanage and the village in general, and people were wary of the male shar due to the inherent male incontinence with their powers.
At some point during his childhood, Chryso came across an interesting creature that referred to itself as a “cloudsnake” which made merry music and became his playmate whereas others were too afraid to approach. His imaginary friend did not help this perception.
At one point, the Cloudsnake urged him to take the owner of the orphanage by her hand and bring her to the Cloudsnake. However, as a result of his carelessness, the orphanage owner became engulfed by a maniacal glee by the male shar’s childish emotional turmoil, and proceeded to murder all the children of the orphanage, then setting fire to the orphanage, all before she was stopped by the town guard via force.
Chryso was slated to be put to death. But then the Cloudsnake reappeared, promising him a place where he would not be persecuted – where he could find others like himself.
From the frying pan into the fire. While it is hard to say which was ‘preferrable’ - Orochi’s power was not kind to the young boy’s mind. Orochi reassured him though - that this was so he could understand Love.
Never having full knowledge of human touch. Understanding love as Orochi’s word, for never knowing any better. Chryso is all too happy to be one of Orochi’s mortrae'vinn. Through being this weapon, perhaps he can transcend the horrors of the life he has known.
Chryso is more scared of others than people are of him. He will hide behind Mr. Bear, and let him act as his violent impulses - the repressed rage which he is never allowed to show - to either orochi nor the adults. He fights because Orochi is love. Love commands him to fight. Through Love, he may know salvation through spreading it, and then being consumed by it.
Chryso often only speaks through his bear – ascribing negative, hateful emotions to the bear while keeping vulnerable, acceptable emotions to himself – including the power which brought ruin to the place he one called home.

ABILITIES
- Mr. Bear: Mr. Bear is the owlbear doll which Chryso carries. This bear can be manipulated via a combination of Chryso’s magical energies and psionics to be a fighting golem creature in the rough shape of an owlbear. Mr. Bear’s own abilities include the ability to project destructive reiatsu blasts from its eyes as well as metal-rending claw swipes. It should also be noted that Mr. Bear is actually a limiter for Chryso – because all the energies must be fed into the bear, Chryso’s energy is being used inefficiently – for good reason. Should Mr. Bear be destroyed, Chryso’s free energies could rip apart a small local area – including himself and whatever allies were foolhardly to fight alongside him.
- Telekinesis: Chryso is a powerful psionic – one of his main talents is the ability to move matter, energy, and reiatsu with his mind. However, Chryso’s ability is limited on reiatsu – especially reiatsu which belongs to another party. To manipulate reiatsu which has ‘ownership’ on it, he must overpower the target with his own mind – which is easier said than done. Therefore, he could, say, throw a goblin across a room, but may find it more difficult to throw a seasoned veteran with experience in manipulating reiatsu. While Orochi’s dark experiments have enhanced these powers, this is still a factor to take into consideration. Nontheless, it is not unusual to see Chryso wielding all manner of weapons with his mind alone. Mr. Bear is one such weapon, and is a complex one to use – as such, this ability tends to be severely limited so long as Chryso is focusing on Mr. Bear.
- Shar Touch: Chryso’s shar powers are hindered by his gloves, which are woven with thick reiatsu-infused threads. This is for his own benefit as well as for the safety of those around him, as given his fragile mental state as well as his power, the touch could easily destroy both involved. As such, this is equal part ability and weakness.
WEAKNESSES
- Child: Chryso is a child, and is incapable of competent physical combat, especially given his malnutrition. While his telekinesis involving weapons can make up for this, close quarter combat is generally handled by Mr. Bear, which endangers his limiter as well as, by proxy, everyone in the immediate area.
- Self-Destructive: All of Chryso’s power come at great cost to him. His telekinesis, if unleashed in full, would destroy him. His shar touch would also destroy him. Unless one can erase Orochi’s taint from his powers, Chryso is doomed to destroy himself.
